"Post Restant"

Hi everyone.

I'm in Indonesia and I'm finally getting sick of carrying all my "oh-I'll-need-that-in-AUS" stuff around. Mainly cause my bike is seriously suffering up some of the mountains here (125cc) and therefore I decided I'd like to send a pack to Darwin with all the suff I won't need here.

Now I though I'll simply mail it to th post restant and everythings fine, but those guys only keep mail for up to 2 weeks, it'll take me another 4 months to reach Darwin.

So I was wondering if I could mail my stuff to anybody here who will simply throw it into his/her garage and I'll come by to invite youfor a beer or two and pick it up someday in around 4-5 months.

I also wrote a version of this to the Darwin community.
I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks a lot
Tim

There are mail forwarding services available in Australia, mainly for all the grey nomads who travel for a year or two. Maybe try one of them and a Google.

You need to keep the value of the contents below AU$1000 to avoid GST and duties. Max weight is usually 20kgs into Aus.

There is no guarantee that your parcel wont be inspected by Customs and held until you turn up to collect.

If you goto Auspost's website there will a link to the average shipping time for surface and air.

I'm not sure that its something I'd be prepared to do - eg; drugs being sent to an address could be a real problem for the receiver.

Sorry Tim, I can’t help because I’m not in Aus but would happily receive and store a parcel for someone.

If I was really worried about it containing contraband, I'd get the sender to state what is in the parcel and provide some I.D. and contact details. Keep copies of emails between myself and the sender then if the sh-it does hit the fan I should be able to show my innocence.

Thanks BYT. But I luckily already found people through the Community who will receive the pack for me. So this Threda can be closed.

I looked up the hold mail of the post and of 2 or so services and for all those I would have needed to be in Oz and apply in person.
