Place to clean the bike in Auckland

We are delivering our bike for crating and shipping on Tuesday. Does anyone know a good place near or north of the Airport to clean our bike and camping gear for the biosecurity inspection in AUS?

The NZ winter took its toll with mud and grime covering pretty much all of it, so it might take a bit, and given the weather having a dry spot to dry our camping gear would be required.

We would arrive either late Monday or early Tuesday.

Ideas?

Cheers,
Florian and Nina

Right, a kind couple we met on the road has kindly offered us a bed and a place to clean the bike tonight.

Everything is going to be a bit hectic for us tomorrow, since our Touratech aluminium panniers got stolen two days ago at Cape Reigna. Luckily they were mostly empty and we found someone to take our camping gear to Auckland, but a new set of boxes will hurt the budget hard :(

Sorry to hear about the theft at the Cape - and I think you've been really unlucky. Where did it happen exactly? I've spent a lot of time in the area for various reasons and there are normally enough tourists and DOC staff around to deter most opportunist thieves. Good luck with the rest of your travels.

Thanks!

As always a bit of our own fault. So few people, no rangers we did not think someone would bother. We had the empty panniers between the bike and the tent and they got snatched at night.

We could have locked them back onto the bike or taken them into the tent ... hindsight is a great tormentor ;)

The only small bit of consolation is that I got ZEGA PRO 2 to replace my first generation zega pro's.

Just don't skimp on the elbow grease when cleaning the bike. If AQIS find so much as a flea's wing anywhere, you will be up for an expensive re-clean.

Yea, I,ve spend a couple of hours armed with pressure washer and detergent and the bike is as clean as it ever was. It's a motorcycle though, if you want to find something, you will.

So yea, coming from NZ I get why you need to check, but if the the result is anything other than a pass, I call bull. I've seen how "diligent" they are at the airport.

Cleaned out the air filter chamber.

Yea, its new, and also hard to get to on the TA. But of course i rode the bike to the crating shop. Again, will see. Good way to make some extra money without much oversight, so I guess it comes down to wether the coffee was good that morning.
