NZ AA - Maps
Suggestion for when you arrive in NZ:
go to the AA with an AA card from wherever you come from. and ask for some maps. When they ask where you are going say "everywhere". They will give you a wad of the best maps for the country - completely free :-) James

Another option is to buy a map book from Mobil service stations.
Very useful maps - show ALL the dirt roads into the back of nowhere. Also a very handy size to fit the top of a tank bag. This map book also includes a larger scale map of NZ - North Island on side & South Island the other that is a good size for longer road blasts.
