Why start in Auckland if you are touring the South Island? It is a nice enough ride from Auckland to Wellington & the ferry ride is worth it, but there are motorcycle hire companies in Christchurch in the South Is if you want to spend more time down there.

Being local I don't hire bikes often but I have only heard good reports about the NZ hire companies.

Cheers
Clint

Hi Wilfried

Of course you don't know the back-story here. Wilfried has been to NZ many times, and probably wants a bit of time in the North Island for a change. Hopefully my work schedule will let us catch up this year, Wilfried! Sorry to miss you last year.
Te Waiponamu have always been good to people I know.

Best regards

Nigel

Sorry the North Island I mean, you are right no sense to start at Auckland to visit the South Island.

Hi

I rented a 650GS from Te Waiponamu in March 2008. I did a one way rental from Auckland to Christchurch. I would have no hesitation renting from them again.

Good luck with your trip.

Rotoiti? You lucky bastard! My uncle has a bach (holiday home for those what don't speak kiwi..) there, lovely place and HUGE trout.

Wilfried and I have been meeting irregularly for 10 years. He's one German with a sense of humour...

Cheers bloke,

Nigel
