Melbourne to Cooktown low traffic routes

Hi we plan to ride from Tas to Cape York and are after info on minor roads that avoid the traffic and road trains as will be on Ag's and traveling slow.
We are after a fairly direct route but would not want to miss any must sees.
info that details fuel availability would be good
thanks Matt

Must sees ..
Vic High Country (Hemma map - Vic High Country..
NSW alps
Qld NSW boarder .. MT Lamminton NP? something like that
Qld - Atherton Tablelands ..

Smaller roads ? .. get good maps .. pick the twisty ones .. they will take longer .. but there will be less traffic and more grins.

Road trains .. mainly out west .. you might find some north of Cains..

Fuel avalibality - the Hemma Motorcyle Atlas has that where it matters.. and it makes a good overall planing aid. No I don't work for or have shares in Hemma.

Map of Queensland
is the B-Double & Road train routes in Qld.

Travelling along the Great Dividing Range will give you a fairly wide selection - there is also the Bicentennial Trail - I'm not sure if its a horse/walker only route but would easily be do-able on an Aggie.

The Bicentennial Trail is walker/horse only. And if you have ever seen a horse trial .. (TRIAL not trail) then you'd apreciate it is similar to a motorcyccle trial ... not something you'd take any 'normal' bike on. In fact being able to pick the bike up and carry it up a 4 foot rock face could be required. A skilled trials rider on a trials bike would be go.
