Stay in one place so that potential buyers can see it - month or more.
Register the bike in that State - lot of Aussies are put off buying vehicles registered in another State because of the paperwork involved in changing the rego.

Put it on fleabay .. 7 day auction, and specify where you'll be at the end of the auction, for the successful bidder to collect. For a 2006 model with 37,000kms on the clock, that has had heavy off-road use and scars to prove it, you might not get $5,000. IMHO, delete the photos that show the bike on the beach .. salt corrosion. Maybe start the auction at $3,500, and expect around $4250?

That was a good a idea, like ebay but australia? I didn't figure out their site really, I'll give it a second glance later. No its ebay is it?

2006 is what you want, you don't want the new 2007, lots of problems with that one...

Yea, but it's like no real beach when you can leave it on the stand like that... From esperance, really nice!

One of the services that I can offer is to deliver it like anywhere almost =) Can even drop by people that are interested.. I can also do the re-registration, doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Raining today in Mel.

Im pretty sure that "fleabay" is just Aussie slang for Ebay.
Ebay could be your best bet for a guaranteed quick sale. 7 day Auction

Thnx, makes sense.

Or to go to a dealer... But I rather sell it to a private person.

I'll have a look on bikes at ended auctions, feels weird to bid on something you haven't seen.

Think I'll start moving NE today.

Robin,

Yes - 'fleabay' is a lesser term of endearment for 'eBay', rather than Aussie slang. It's 'eBay' in Aus as it is around the World (eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home decor). I'd suggest you list it quite soon. Once autumn sets in, it may be more difficult to sell.

bike sale

Hi Claesson,

same old story. Drop the asking price to a level to make it attractive.

The principles haven' chanced at all to make the world go round.

Cheers

Register it in NSW

I'm sure the bike's good but at the moment I think the ad will be unappealing for most buyers and restrict your market:
  • Drop the comments about scratches etc - most of us realise it will have some but we dream that it doesn't. As soon as you raise them in the ad we automatically assume its pretty rough.
  • Being on WA plates reduces your market dramatically - most of us don't have convenient mates over there whose address we can use for registration purposes. To get it onto NSW plates is going to cost someone around $750 by the time you've paid everything. Firstly I'm pretty sure you need a "Blue Slip" inspection for interstate transfers (and this is harder to organise than the normal annual "pink slip" inspection) and they then you have to fork out the expense of a years rego. Either reduce your price by at least $1000 or do it yourself - I suggest the latter; you might not be better of financially but you have a much greater chance of selling the bike.
I'd also consider selling the things like the cases on EBay. Unless you want a dedicated hard case KLR tourer they add little value to the bike when you sell it with them (and again may even reduce your market). They will sell quickly separately and theres most of the rego transfer cost funded.

Best of luck selling it. It you want to meet up with another KLR rider or need a base to do work on the bike (in Newcastle 2 hours north of Sydney) PM me.

Hi Claesson

you may always stick a match to her, some times it seems to work.

Cheers

Would feel really bad doing that. You don't do that to someone who had carried you all that distance without complaints I think.
