Honda CTX200 info, please!

Can anyone give me any info beyond specs on the Honda CTX200B(ushlander)? I got one in South Africa, but nobody can get me a repair manual, and I can't find anybody else who has one. Looking for basic maintenance schedule and any tips and tricks. Thanks!

I use CTX 200s as farm bikes. Good sturdy bike. No real issues. Have changed the cam chain tensioner twice. You will hear it rattling if its a problem. Air cleaner intake is under the seat and with pressure washing the bike I find that the aircleaner case fills up with dirt and stones. I do oil and filters every 2 months. I think the recommended service schedule is every 3000 km. If you want any other info I'll check it out with my Honda dealer.

What sort of riding do you do with the CTX?

Regards

Colin

Honda never made a workshop manual for the CTX200. BUT, you can get one for the XL200, which is mechanically identical. The XL200 is pretty much the "street" version of the CTX, without the racks and crash bars etc.

Here's the very basic maintenance chart from the relatively useless OWNER's manual.
In reality, I do:
- Oil change every 1500km. No ifs or buts. Honda GN4 10W30. 1 litre. $14 for oil, there is no filter. Do it religiously!
- Clean air filter whenever I can be bothered - probably around 5000km depending on conditions.
- Check and adjust valve clearance every 6000km-10,000km (intake and exhaust should both be 0.10 mm).

Absolutely bullet proof bike. I use mine for bush bashing in Australia and love it. Easy to get parts from Honda. Have fun with it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
