Garmin City Navigator 7 Australia

Hello -

I'm taking a (sadly) non-motorcycle trip to Australia with my wife in May, and will be driving from Adelaide to Melbourne. I'd like to bring my Garmin Zumo along, and was wondering if anyone had a Garmin City Navigator 7 Australia that they are done with and would like to sell.

Also interested in any must-sees along the way.

Thanks -

Should hardly think that you need a sat nav to travel from Adelaide to Melbourne. There's only 3 different routes or so from one to the other. As far as places to visit, these are just a couple of suggestions. The wine growing district of Barossa just an hr or so north of Adelaide. The "Coorong", a coastal strip SE of Adelaide renowned for it's stark, beautiful marine landscapes and birdlife. Then a long hop through the fertile region of south eastern SA, possabily stopping in Robe. Olde worldy fishing village with a lot of history and where you will get a good crayfish meal ( not lobster, which seems what they have morphed into in recent times? ). More dairy, beef and sheep country as you pass through western Victoria. Check out the bluestone buildings of Portland and Port Fairy. Once in Warranbool, take your time as you travel the ship wreck coast/Great Ocean rd to Geelong or there a bouts. Try not to do the busiest section of the GOR ( say Apollo Bay to Anglesea ) on a weekend. Thats about it really. When do you plan to do it? Weather can be a bit shitty July to Nov. Now is best. Any other time is good. In any case you will enjoy it.
Cheers, Graeme.

Thanks. Thought the Garmin would be useful for sniffing out places to stay, as we have no set plans for the drive.

Will be heading over April 28th for a three week stay.

Brisbane, Fraser Island, Cairns, Syndey, Adelaide, Kangaroo, Island, Melbourne

I have just come back from spending the Easter break on Fraser Island (in a 4WD), it has the most stunning scenery. I have had many trips to the island and it never ceases to amaze me how lucky I am to have it virtually on my door step. As soon as I hear the tyres squeeling in the sand I feel the worries of the world rapidly drift away. It certainly helps when my mobile phone has no coverage and things are nice and quiet. Saw a few bike riders having a ball in the sand, lucky bastards!

Drop me a line when you get to Brisbane, I would be keen to meet up for a chat, a drink and point you in the right direction if needed.

There is always a spare bed/beds at my house.

Thanks Glen. We'll be in Brisiee May 2nd-4th at the Ibis Hotel. Left those days pretty empty in case the jet lag has us knackered, so a Fourex should be doable. Maybe some wanker will let me take his bike for a spin out on the sand. Although I got plenty of that out here on the edge of the Mojave.

Are there any American goods that are worth bringing along for folks over there?

I will send you a PM with my mobile/cell number.

You can hire bikes at Noosa that they allow you to ride on the beaches. Or you can go the easy way and do an organised bus tour out of either Noosa, Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay. Keep a watchful eye out for the errant Dingo's

Tried cell and Ibis Hotel, no joy. Leaving for a 4 day riding trip tomorrow am. Give a call if you are going to be around longer.

Enjoy your trip

Glen
