Fuel Problems

Hi There,
I am the proud owner of a XR 650 L which I have just purchased. I love the bike and want to set it up for long distance adventure riding. First problem, Fuel Tank! The stock 10lt tank just won't cut it. I would love some advice on where I could get a larger ( 20 - 25lt ) one down at this end of the world. I have priced them new and found them to be close to $ 1000.00 !!!
I'm keen to find a second hand one.
Any help would be great.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Hey I owned an XR650L and also lived in Dunedin / Invercargill for 2 years just gone back to Oz to get my bike which Ive left over there.

Yes the fuel tank is expensive but its the best $980 you can spend on your xrl. I assume you are talking of the acerbis 24l tank. Me and my two mates bought 3 of these tanks, basically if you go through a dealer in NZ it will take 2 months to arrive as it did with my tank. If you buy online it will get shipped ex France and be here within 15 days.

Fuel Tanks:
Touratech Nederland Webshop

You will find it an ongoing battle to convince the local dealers that you have an xr650L "LLLLLLL" and they will forever order you R parts. Most parts are pricey too this is an excellent site a lot of bits are half price especially if you are buying OEM, some of the dealers in NZ told us they cant even get the parts for an XRL from Honda NZ! They were here within a few days from the USA!

Good luck with the setup.
