Early Planning Trip to NZ

Hi all,
I am in the early stages of planning a trip to NZ. I have read some of the information provided on the site about taking my own bike. Can those of you who have done this already tell me how long I should plan to stay in NZ to see the sites.
Thanks
Paul

New Zealand

We just spent 4 months in New Zealand. Six weeks on the north island, and 11 weeks on the south. It was enough time for us. I would take at least 2 months to enjoy the country. We arrived on December 1 and it stayed cool until mid January. March and April were the best weather for us. Several people told us that the South Island was better for motorcycles, though we found both islands very good and gave vastly different scenery. We have details in the traveler's stories.

Info please!

Hi there. What kind of sights are you interested in? NZ is not a big country but you can get big changes in scenery and land types in a very short distance. Depending on what you are intersted in there can be lots to see in a short distance of traveling or almost nothing.
Most people I have met traveling here who have stayed less than two months have wished they could stay longer. Most people also say allow a bit more time for the South Island than the North Island. Having said that, I have met people who thought their 10 days was 5 days too long! I think their quote was "Too much nature; not enough culture".

Regards

I agree with Nigel.

If you're into nature you'll love NZ, if you're into culture you might find it boring.

I live here and love it for the nature, not the culture.

Happy travels.

I saw you at the petrol station in Wellington, just before you got on the ferry one morning. I was on the pushbike, and stopped for a chat, you might remember.

Glad to see you made it through OK and the you enjoyed the scenery.

Happy travels.

Mark.
