Doing a quick bike tour in Melbourne - hiring or pillion

I am in Melbourne for a whirlwind tour, wishing I had longer!
I don't have access to a bike here and am really wanting to get out and have a decent look around. The organised tours I had a quick look at at the Info center are massively expensive (spelt: Great Ocean Road tour :) ), so I was hoping someone had local knowledge of a company with reasonably priced rides?
All the hire and excess charges can mount up, so even a pillion ride could be an option.
I am in Melbourne until the 11th April.
Any info would be good, thanks.
Or should I maybe just head up to Elizabeth street and check out the options there?

Thank you (from a very humid Melbourne! My local mate keeps moaning that the weather is rubbish, but for my Pommy aclimatised self, it's pretty tropical :) )

You're there already?
There's a thread around here somewhere about motorcycle hire in Australia and New Zealand. The only one i know of, which is also close to Elizabeth street is at the back of the Vic market. You could go there and ask about prices, but i think it will be steep. A trip to Kinglake is also supposed to be a good ride, or through the Dandenongs.
Don't talk to me about humidity, you should try Ghana in March/April.
Have fun in Melbourne.

You could give these guys a go if you dont have any luck in the city,

Hire Motorcycles in Ringwood (Eastern suburbs) tel 9870 9488.

There is also a Yamaha place nearby that rents bikes, but cant find the number.

There is also a HU Community BBQ this Sunday if you can get transport, email me for details if you are interested!

Simmo,
Are you still getting about on Schwinehunt? I'll be back in Oz for January, let me know if you want to have a beer at some stage. I bought a K75 to get about on while i'm there, picking it up just before christmas.
