Darwin to Indonesia ???

Hi Friends,
Finally I am in Sydney, Australia and will be heading towards Darwin from where I plan to take a ship to Indonesia. On the shipment page I could not find much info. There are shipments to Dili but not Indonesia. Anybody shipped to Indonesia recently? Or those who shipped to East Timore, where did they go from there?
Thanks

I know of several people who shipped to Dili and then over the land boarder into Indonesia. From there it's an easy matter of island hopping on small ferries across to Java. I don't have any exact details sorry.

Regards

I live in Darwin and have met many riders who have come across from East Timor. Perkins shipping in Darwin is the biggest shipping Co but there are a few others.
Once you get to ET you need to cross the border to West Timor (check in Darwin to make sure the border is open) and then it is very cheap and easy to Island hop through Indonesia.
A few weeks before you get to Darwin flick me an e-mail and I will look after you when you get up here.

Hi Mick,

We will be coming from ET to Darwin. If a half rack of your favorite beer will buy a grassy place for a tent, name your poison.

Hey Mate,

Regarding your trip frm Oz-Indonesia, i think u should check with mmaarten on the HUBB, he did a RTW trip from Europe-Asia-Oz-South America-North America.
website Maarten's World. Also check Perkins Shipping Darwin
During his s.e.asia leg he went to Indonesia, Sumatera Island (Dumai) from Malaysia (Malacca) by ferry & then shipped his bike from Dilli (East Timor) to Darwin (But he himself had to fly on some scary piece of private air service)
East Timor was Indonesia before (I think, border crossings should be easy)

Good Luck!

Radzi

sorry for not noticing you Rich:(

was it you I saw on the way to Milford Sound in March 1999? (Just kidding)
It was raining & very cold (for me) I was on the Kiwi Experience coach heading to Milford Sound from Queenstown. Saw this biker on a Yamaha:cool4:

Anyway: Anybody visiting the South Island, DONT MISS it! I reckon its one the most beatiful places on earth!:thumbup1:

Sweet As:clap:

ps: After tasting the its fresh water Capt Cook named it Milford Sound but geographically its a fiord! fresh water remain on the surface, the rest is salty.
:oops2: :offtopic:

Shipping to Indonesia from Australia

Hey Biker
some weeks ago,i come they way from East timor,Dilli, down to Darwin, its the easiest way,to ship bei perkins shipping agency, cost roundabout, incl. costs on the other side, nearly 200usd,but you have to fly by plane,160usd ?,from east timor, now safty area, you can drive to westtimor, the border is 24 hours open, now hassle or anything, the make the clearence with the carnet, without problems, from kupang in west timor you can take an ferry, boat sometimes you have to wait 2 weeks for one, depentedhow is the wether and sea, high waves......?,from flores then you can take the other ferry to sumbawa, maybe only 1 times per week, but then the other island ferry going regular, the way is shorter, you can send a mail, for more information,to,suzifred@hotmail.com ,best greetings ,hold the mirrows in the top, fred.
