coming to Melbourne, end of May
Hello All,
I will be coming to Melbourne (maybe Sydney if easier for bikes) at the end of May. I want to buy a bike to travel the country for two months. I have read about dealer buy backs but I doubt these will be good deals. I have also been looking on "trading post" and "bike point" to get an idea for price ranges. Would Ebay.au be better? I travel light so I don't need a big GS or 1000cc sport bike. Any bike recommendations or buying advice would be appreciated. I have done long trips on all kinds of bikes, KLR 650, V-strom 650, honda 125 step through, bmw r75, etc. I am looking to spend less than $4000 for a bike (so that If I have trouble selling at the end I won't get screwed), and in that range it seems that a KLR650, or DRZ-400 would be the best dual sport options, while a early 2000s Hornet250 or a mid 90s CBF600 and kawi nija 250, would be the best street bike options. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any assistance. PS. Anybody want to go riding with me, foreign or domestic, would be cool. I am always interested in meeting people who can teach me a thing or two. Cheers, Matt |
Bike sales
Hi Matt,
You should also look at Bike sales.com.au and guntree. Cheers from Oz |
Hi Matt,
You are looking at the right places Gumtree Melbourne Used & Second Hand Motorcyles, Motorbikes & Scooters For Sale | Melbourne | Gumtree Classifieds Sydney Used & Second Hand Motorcyles, Motorbikes & Scooters For Sale | Sydney | Gumtree Classifieds Bike Sales and Bike point are pretty much identical and where most bikes are advertised. The Trading post and ebay are not bad either but most bikes are sold through the above I think. In Melbourne you have a fair few places and dealers here are a few. Peter Stevens Motor Cycles Home SPOT ON MOTORCYCLES - 423 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne Vic. 1300 133 587 03 9329 8222 all of which are in the city on Elizabeth street, except Peter Stevens that have a few sites around. You can get the odd bargain and might be better for a buy back option ?? If you are travelling big distances on the road (which you prob would in Aus to get from POI to POI) something with a real comfy seat is the go. I did a trip from melb to cape york (Tip of QLD) and back on a 96 XTZ660 Tenere and that was a bit sore after a while.. Hope this helps Cheers |
