crocs and river crossings

I may be going up Cape York soon - looks like a great ride.

The only concern I have is all the river and creek crossings - and the fact there are salties lurking in the deep muddy waters....

Obviously many people do this ride - how does one avoid getting eaten?

Thumbs up crocs and river crossings

Hello Rich;
We were not concerned about crocs at river and creek crossings on the way up,went swimming at Fruit Bat Falls,lots do,but at Elliot Falls a little further on there were warnings about crocks.did not go for a dip there.The Jardine river has crocs but it is crossed on a ferry.Up at the top there are warnings,but we were just careful and pitched our tents in the camping grounds.
Saw no crocs ourselves but did see a few snakes in a hurry to get away.
Hope this reassures you.Do not miss a good ride is my advice.
Regards Ben.

Thanks Ben.

No it doesn't reassure me but I'm dumb enough to give it a go anyway...

Cool

Has anyone on this forum done the cape york trip on a F650 Funduro? Any recommendations for planning the trip? At the moment I have road tyres, so no doubt im going to need something more nobbly. I still have the default BMW panniers as well, currently looking at Tourtech or Jessies but they are rather pricey.

Can anyone recommend a cheap way to acquire these panniers? At the moment it looks like they are going to set me back $1500+

Thanks,
Jared
