Californian College student riding around OZ for senior thesis. Needs help plannning

Hi everyone for my senior thesis at California State University Channel Islands I'll be studying theatre and culture in Australia, will let me ride around the Continent. Originally the plan was to do it on my 1983 BMW R65LS that I found on a horse ranch sitting since 1987. But one of my sponsors just gave a 2000 R1100 BMW to make sure I'll make it back home. I need to raise funds for the project I plan to leave on January 15th 2014 and spend six months there. If any body has any ideas on who is the best airline to fly my bike, great rides, and biker friendly camp grounds I would greatly appreciate it. I also have a facebook page for my project called the wild ride https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-W...8461593?ref=hl.
Thank you,
Andrew

Almost all campgrounds in Australia is bike friendly, but you'll probably find its much more relaxing (and cheaper) to just bush-camp. There's also so many free campsites available, too many to list (and it is a continent after all). As for amenities, you'll find most most (?) small towns will have washing/shower facilities setup for truckers (as well as the roadhouses) and lots will be free. Or you just go to the local pool and use their facilities for $2-5.

As for great rides- just pick a direction. It's all great.

Good luck

PS: can't help you with airline. Have you checked out the "on the road" section above and the discussion hubs for some ideas?
