Hi guys
Has anyone riden from cairns to darwin in mid May , its on the back end of the wet season and i hear that hells gate servo has shut down , so fuel could be a problem too , Whadda ya reckon , am i crazy or do i just need a snorkel.

If i do go , i am riding a 990s and would'nt mind a travelling buddy, taking about 2 weeks.

No biggie GG, I did Melb -> Mt Isa -> Cairns then back down the coast to Melb a few yeras back and 12 months ago I did Darwin to Melb via Mt Isa on an early '80s fully dressed Kwaka 1300 Voyager (4,500km in 5 days). A bit bloody hot, needed to have plenty of rest stops especially in the afternoons, and of course you can't ride at nght because of the bloody 'roos. Otherwise it's a pretty straightforward ride.

As for fuel, you won't go any farther than 150km between stops, just be careful in NT though because a lot of the servos in the small towns shut at 5pm.

Garry from Oz.
