Any work for my 18 year old son in Syd or Mel?

My nice, polite, party loving 18 year old son has arrived in Sydney after 6 weeks in Perth and is looking for a few months work in either Sydney or Melbourne.

He's on a gap year, complete with work visa and probably better suited to a job in a (beach!) bar, hotel, restaurant, cafe, retail shop, music shop, etc rather then cattle rustling, kangaroo wrestling or farm work, as he's not as tough as his old man! Bloody teenagers! 12,000 miles away, Yipee!!! Oh, you know I don't mean it son!

Any help with tips for jobs, cheap accomodation, ideas for where to head for will all be greatfully received.

Any help and advice I can offer with regard to a European road trip, will be a pleasure.

Hey Chris now that you have an empty room there in downtown South Newington you can take in the 20 year old non working one i have here. we can swap unemployed children, no keep the room free for when Peter and myself are back over there again later in the year. Locky.:thumbup1:

Hi Chris, both bikes ended up being trailered to Germany from Holland, Peter's was in need of a timing chain i think, mine was running fine i just had to replace a set of fork seals, but we did 10,000K's. He should try going through an employment/labour hire agency. They've got heaps of work going, and they're usually pretty quick to find something for you. I walked into the office for a chat with one of the people on a Thursday and ended up starting as a Gardeners assistant in Melbournes parks the Monday after, even though i've no qualifications in that area! 800 bucks a weeks, and can leave when i want. Perfect for a backpacker!

Do a quick internet search and you'll find heaps of others for both cities. Some are specifically for backpackers. Be advised though, some of the work can be quite hard. I was working as a removalist for a few weeks before i got this one.
