Shipping car from Japan to Mexico/US/Canada

Hello....

I am presently driving around Japan in my old UK registered Honda Civic and in the next 2-3 months am looking to ship across the Pacific to North America.

My questions relate to shipping into Mexico and how easy, time consuming and bureaucratic this is? Also what documents, insurance and paperwork I need and where is it best to organise this.

If I ship to Mexico, I will drive up to the US so what considerations do I need for this - where can I get insurance, EPA paperwork and anything else required?

If I ship into Canada and then drive South to the US same question, where can I get insurance and is there anything else required or that I should be aware of?

I am travelling on a UK carnet de passage, have my UK driving licence and International Driving Licence and also my UK V5 registration document. Is there anything else I need?

I read on a visa website that to enter the US on a freighter - as I plan to - I will need to organise a B2 tourist visa (electronic travel authority not acceptable), but entering by land, are people crossing with only this visa waiver electronic travel authority?

Also, and finally, with regard to import/export periods into the US. If I enter and leave does the 1 year import period start a fresh?

Anyway, I think that is plenty to be going on with. Thanks a million in advance.....

Best wishes,

Jon
