looking for the dunes in morocco

Hello everybody!
My name is Geoffrey and I am infected with the travel microbe.
In 2006 I drove my faithful little LR90 trough morocco and mauritania.
Studio Bolster
I used Chris Scott's sahara overland book for preparing and navigating.
I loved morocco and mauritania but chris' routes didn't send me trough many dunes. After this trip I was truly infected and did trips to tunesia and algeria.... I know that there are few dunes in morocco but is there anyone who want's to share their routes or waypoints straight to or trough the moroccan ergs??? Does Chris' new morocco book cover a bit more of the rare moroccan dunes? We leave for a little two week morocco trip in early may :-) In exchange I would be happy to share tracks and waypoints from all over morocco, mauritania, algeria, tunesia and iceland with anyone who would like to go there.
I hope someone can help me.
thanks in advance.
G

There's not much sand in Morocco other than river beds, and indeed only about 30% of the Sahara is sand, the rest is a rocky desert.

However there are two largish ergs (sand seas), Erg Chigaga near Zagora/Mhamid (approx N29 53.240 W5 39.777) and Erg Chebbi near Erfoud/Merzouga (approx N31 07.583 W3 55.247). Erg Chebbi is very touristy, Erg Chigaga is less so.

It could be interesting if we list all ergs of Morocco with GPS points.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
