Insurance for Roof Top Tent
 

Not sure if this should go in this thread, but it looks to me this is the closest.

I phoned my insurance Adrian Flux regarding adding my new spangly roof tent to the insurance, and they said that they wouldnt cover it as it should be covered by my house insurance.

Has anyone else had any experience of insuring them, or having them pinched ?

Any feedback greatfully recieved.

When we used to have one, ours was listed on our insurance. However, given it didn't get nicked, we never had to test whether they would honour it. Starting suggest would be whether person at insurance company understands what a roof tent is - eg the fact that you fix it to the vehicle etc as apposed to ordinary camping gear.

No experience myself. But, insurance companies are always after a way out of any claim. Just make them aware in writing of it's value and how it is mounted. Get them to agree a fixed price for damage/stolen 'in writing'.
