how much to drive into egypt with a truck

hi thinking of going through Egypt with our truck, we have heard that trucks have to pay a big 'tax' to get in from Jordan. most people do not give any info on their web pages about easing border crossing and what the customs expect to be given, we read a web site that said he had to pay £500 road tax to enter from Jordan but that is the only site we can find :confused1:

hallo there

with a truck it is always a little bit difficuilt to give any kind of informations. Also the fees could change quickly. Also coming through the Sinai there are other regulations than coming from Libya or Sudan.
I think anyone will be very careful to give out any kind of information. So you will be best of to either contact an automobile club or an egyptain travel agency they could help you out with the informations. May be the best is to contact the egyptain automobile club in Cairo straight away for detailed infos if you can't get them anywhere else

sharing info

Thanks for the message Tango- we appreciate your good advice.
We had the same problem when we first started travelling- absolutely no-one would share information about costs. This made us absolutely determined to put full cost information on our web page. Maybe we will have to do the same again....
We all realise that costs can change quickly but travellers do need a rough idea about prices to start with- it does help immensely when planning a trip!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
