help!

I realy want to drive to south africa but! after being in contact with the RAC it turns out I cant get a carnet cause I'm not from the uk. The plan was to drive through europe-turkey-syria-jordan-eygpt-sudan etc.. from what I read on this board I can get as far as jordan without one. does anyone have any idea's or should I just get to jordan ditch the car and go by rail and bus?

How about getting the carnet from NZ or from another country which is more open. For example I met a guy who got a Carnet in Kenya on route. Given you haven't started I was thinking of you trying a more European country (Germany, Holland, France, etc) or Australia. Its a solvable probem.
