Get out of OZ ?

Hi guys,

trip planning is well on the way, just a few minor details now.

So, from Darwin to Indonesia/Malaysia, yes but how ? Which route ? Can I sail along or do I have to fly (added costs) ? Etc etc.

Many shipping companies will take the car out to Kuala Lumpur but how about Indonesia with passenger ? What port on the Java Island ?

Thanks for the replies. I still have a ton of questions but that's for another thread

Darwin To Indonesia

I lived in Indo for 5 yrs until last year.

You can ship from Darwin to various ports in Indo.I do not know specific details but its doable.Start enquiries with Darwin shipping agents. Highly recommend Indo for overlanding as long as you have the patience and balls for the traffic. It is not dangerous, just hairy and great fun!!!!!Great place, great people. You will always be helped along the way.

Depending on where you ship to you will need to also island hop on ferries and then ship out from Sumatra(Madan)to KL.

If you have the time try and start as far East as possible as the rewards are great.

I'll be going East-to-West from Timor to Iran then West-to-East ftom Kazak to Bering Straight, then again East-to-West from Siberia to Norway so yeah as far East as Russia will let me, for sure !!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
