Gas stove

I am gathering options for a 2 or 3 burner gas stove, ideally something adaptable to different local supplies.

It needs to be very robust and reasonably compact and light. Any ideas?

You've touched on the very problem with gas stoves, each country has different fittings/bottles, and you can't ship a vehicle with a gas bottle with any gas in it. Advantage tho is that you can cook inside. Another disadvantage is the lose power in the mountains, the higher you go the longer it takes to make a cuppa.

Solution: Coleman dual fuel petrol stove.

Richard,

I'm guessing you want it mainly for use in North Africa? I get two Moroccan gas bottles and have a local welder whip up a rectangle frame for them both so it becomes one solid unit - and then stick a local burner on top of each one.

Easy to do, easy to store (doesn't rattle or break), easy to buy extra bottles in different countries if need be and slot in, and nice to grab and go and cook next to the river etc. Gas bottles are about 8 euros (80 Dirham) from memory?

But slightly big as stoves go - so I only tend to use one bottle now. I lasted 7 months with gas to spare on my last two bottle system.

Worth a thought?
