Container Sharing - UK to Cape Town 6th-25th June 2012
 

Any fellow OVERLANDERS or other wish to share a 40Ft container from the UK to Cape Town. I have found a reputable vehicle shipping Company that specialise in vehicles only, they operate out of Bury St Edmunds.

The vehicle will need to be dropped in Bury on the 1st of June for it to be prepared for shipping (disconnect battery, drain fuel, prepare paperwork and courier carnet to clearing agent and securely loading vehicle) on the 6th, if the service is running to schedule and the weather is good the vehicle will land in Cape Town on the 25th. I have been told to expect a week for unloading and retrieving from the container stacks.

I have been in touch with the clearing Agents in Cape Town and they have advised to collect the Vehicle on the 2nd of July to allow for any delays etc.

By my calculation there is a £600 saving by sharing a container..



This would be the breakdown of the shipping..

UK export docs = £150.00 per car
Ocean Freight to port uncleared = £1,500.00 per car

Local arrival charges are payable upon arrival – estimated at £650.00 per car
