Can I drive trough the eastern part of W Sahara?

I am leaving for a six week trip trough Morocco & Mauritania.
I am driving south to Nouadhibou and than east to Atar.
The question is:
If I drive north from Atar and I want to get back to Morocco, I have to pass the Polisario territory in the eastern part of west sahara, and the Berm.
Is this possible? Where? Are there guides? Am I crazy? Anyone done this?
thx
Geoffrey

No you can't. No if's or but's on that one.

There's always someone that's done it. I met one of them, he and two german cars/couples were kept in a compound for a week with no shade and nowhere to sh** while waiting for approval from Dakhla and a ficticious escort. Taken on 2 false starts, wacky races style only to return to the compound. Eventually they were released, an hour down the road a Polisario welcoming comittee invited them for tea!
If that's your idea of a holiday by all means try...

Bir Mogrein

Geoffrey:
Try Bir Mogrein in the search form on this forum, to get somemore info on this subject. At the moment it's not possible to cross the border, but it's certainly possible to wander of to the north, Zouerat for instance. Tho don't be surprised to get some millitary attention when you wander to much to the north and/or east past Bir Amrane.

have a nice trip
