best time to travel down west coast of africa
 

hi we are just about to finish our truck and need some info on the best time to travel down the west coast.
dont want to rush down to get past cameroon before april as this is the time everyone says the roads are at the worst with the rains, have heard that the roads are being upgraded in some parts anyone have any upto date info.
looking to leave end of december:D

Good luck for your upcoming trip. Here's what I worked out according to the seasons. See attached word document. We'll be leaving next year November 2nd.

Light yellow= Dry season
Orange: Hot dry season
1 Black block = 1 week travelling.
Clear blocks are rainy season

West Africa weather.
 

Much will depend on your route as Cameroon north has very different weather to Cameroon south. You can cross into Cameroon in the north in November but in the south it is still generally impassable. Weather maps of countries often do not take into account the difference between the south and the north of a country. And when they say it is impassable it really is impassable in the rainy seasons in most of West Africa.
