Amguid Crater - Algeria

Hi,
Has anyone been here? Looks like an amazing experience but is the only way to get there part of an organised tour? From the photo's I've found it is pretty hard-core stuff but wanting to know if there is a possiblity to do it as part of a 4x4 trip through Africa.
Thanks
Barbara

Sure, all you have to do is go via Algeria with all that entails (escorts, etc).

You may have seen the pix on my website including some amazing Google Earth shots:

On the second picture you can drive to Aguelman Rahla (top right) and walk up the gorge then climb up the side to 37 (havent done this) - or drive to 048 and walk along the waypoints or any way you like to 037 - both about 6 hours each way and 32kms return.
Option A I may try next time. It's well worth a diversion on the way south - a long day's drive from In Salah/the highway.
