Thumbs up A BIG thank you...and goodbye!

To all the contributing members of HU who have helped me with information, responses and banter during the last four years of planning - THANK YOU!!

My expedition hits the road this evening for twelve month to circumnavigate Africa and it wouldn't have been quite as well planned and organised if I hadn't been able to tap into your vast knowledge resources - the proof I suppose will become clear once I get moving!

I will have access to the internet throughout the journey so plenty more questions will be coming your way over the next twelve months, and if you're interested to see exactly how we're getting on, the diary, stories, photos and gps track then log onto Afritrex - 5 Marathons - 5 Mountains - The Challenge to make every penny count - charity endurance challenge

Have a superb 2008, stay safe and happy

Good luck Ben, so much can get in the way of actually going, so it's a great achievement just to set off.

When you feel out of your comfort zone as all of us do on such a trip, remember to take some deep breaths and try to avoid making unnecessary decisions when your tired or in bad circumstances.

Zen, karma and luck will hopefully be your friends...

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
