What do you all know about Bucher Duro's?
 

I've seen some Bucher Duro 6x6 vehicles that might be up for sale soon, think they might make a nice Expedition Camper Conversion. Whant to look at these before I plump for the Leyland DAF 45 4x4, anyone go any info or experience of them???

The Duro I'm looking at is a 2003 6x6 model with the Allison Auto Gearbox. The fathers girlfriend is german so translations won't be problem... whats the club contact details??

knuffi, sounds like a challange.

As I asked in my original post. What breaks on them. I'm looking at a 6x6 2003 model and a couple of the damaged ones seem to have the middle axle differential box removed. Are these a week point on the vehicle?

Any idea of how easy they are to service, can I buy a service manual for them?

if I got it right , you mean a common cab for
driver , co-driver and some staff ?
no , they don´t build this kind of crew cabs .
as I know , there is only one handmade crew-cab .
that cab was build by renato aegerter .

by the way :
this is one of the most interesting pages about the bucher duro .

at the same page you will find pics from the "kommando-version"
which is a kind of "shelter" for commanders , radio-operators or other staff .

how familiar are you with the duro concept / duro construction ?

here just some short facts :

the 6x6 has 6 single disk-breaks , placed not as usual next to the rim ,
but inside the main-vehicle-frame , close to the axle-differential-box .

if you look "under" the duro , you will miss the usual axle-diff.-boxes
as the duro-axles are designed not the usual way .

if you look up the o.m. page you will find some informations as well .

I´ve to find some pictures from my duro-body or frame and
attache them here to the next reply .

Knuffi, thanks for the reply. Pity as was thinking of one as a base for a expedition vehicle but need to have two rows of seats to accomodate the family.

If you are interested in the Converted 6x6 Duro above I inspected it recently.

Note that Early 6x6 Duros had a Mercedes gearbox, later ones Alison 500 or better still 1000.

Got one of those beauties a duro 4x4S Proto
Used to drive landcruisers ,landrover ,Volvo Valp
But...... a duro with a mercedes automatic and a ford 4.0lV6
Folks watch out it drives like a gokart with its short wheelbase
Sorry no more on the market only 10 build 3 survived and
I got one on the Road and one on the shelf for spares
