Wanted landcruiser and advise about buying

I am looking to buy, in the UK, a big/powerful landcruiser from anywhere between 1985 to 1995.

Best would be one set up to for a trip across Africa, not the most extreme but some travel into remoter places.

If not already set up from overland travel then an unmodified preferred.

Anyone selling or got advise about where to start looking?

Also, can anyone tell me what models and years I should be looiking for.

An import dealer told me that if i wanted a powerful engine I should look for a 4.2. Are all 4.2s more or less the same?

Hi,

Although it'snot a Landcruiser, have a look at that advert: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb...ML/000300.html

I know the car and the owner and can assure you it's a superb setup for overlanding.

I have now bought a landcruiser 4.2 VX 1992 with 63K on clock cost 6,7000 gbp from an importer.

I got advise from Eddie at www.frogsisland.com. He stopped by to look at the vehicle for a small fee. This gave me confidence and saved a few hundred pounds when it came to negotiating a deal

There are quite a few ads in autotrader for similar TLCs, many are imports, for around the same milage and price.

Also, Andy Bell contacted me through this forum and he is selling a nice looking TLC similar to the one I bought. I'm in Bristol and Andy is in Scotland otherwise would probably have bought it.
