Urgent Toyota/4x4 mechanic in Southern Spain

Hi,

I have just been having a chat with Jeremy Llewellyn-Jones from here who is on his way down to Morrocco.

His inner axle seal has just gone on one side in a major way and he has a lot of oil coming from the knuckle seal and the end of the driveshaft.

Do any of you know anybody in the Ronda/Andalucia area of Southern Spain who is in a position to be able to fix this for him.

He will be checking out local 4x4 places that he comes across, but any recommendations for people experienced with TLCs would be appreciated.

The parts side of things isn't necessarily the problem it's just an issue of trying to find a suitable mechanic.

If you have any ideas, please either call me on my mobile (+44 7971 540 362) or drop me a line to julian@landcruisers.info.

Many thanks.

Thanks for this Julian. Got myself 5litres of 80/90 gear oil, some grease and replacement gun and will keep things packed with stuff until the parts arrive. Think I have found somewhere to do the job myself, where I can use their ramp and pit etc but any personal recommendations always useful.

Car sorted thanks to help from Julian above... when I got to the oil seal, which had been replaced about 3 months ago, it was the all rubber 3rd party type. Julian sent me a genuine Totoyta saeal which is mostly metal with an inner rubber sprung ring. CanĀ“t be sure but I think the seal I tookj out was damaged, but then again I did a bit of damage taking it out. Took a week to get parts and three hours to do the job. Now off to africa early next week as all seems well with the front axle.

Thanks once again to Julian.

PS I used a guys garage in Alhaurin in Andalucia, a nasty brit enclave but Manolo was wonderful - leant me some large box spanners and an axle stand. He did 2 years as a Toyota rallye mechanic with Kankunnen. Nice man.
