Suzuki Santana Disel ?
Anyone got any info on these models. I saw one out in spain a while back and wanted one ever since. It was the classic looking suzuki and had 1.9TD on the rear. If they are out there and available i cant find one.

HI These are very popular around the med countries, and great vehicles based on the SJ series the ideal one is the long wheelbase pickup.
not officially imported into the UK, however I have seen a few on spanish Ebay if you really want one would make a straightforward project as it uses easily obtained parts. sorry i cant be of more help try www.DIFFLOCK.com in the suzuki forum someone will know more than I. regards Gren |

I've driven one or two of those SJs, so what is so good (and different) about these - I can't say that I have seen them: have you got a pic by any chance? ps Do they have a van version? (I am thinking of getting one)

Unfortunately not in these parts. In North America Suzuki's will soon look like this:
4WDTraveller.com -- 4WD Travel, Adventure, News, and Reviews: Suzuki Equator pick up truck Yikes. Or cool. Still not sure...

Pickups are great when you have a reliable, predictable climate but it's a van that is needed in the UK! 2+2 cabs are getting more common though, especially for working vehicles.

I think, although not 100% sure, that the 1.9 diesel is a peugeot unit?
if so, it's a helluva a good reliable engine. good for lots of miles and quite torquey too. check out some of the US 4x4 sites; fitting either the peugeot or a VW 1.9/2.0 engine is a popular conversion. i think Calmini in the US do a lot of these kits (or Specialist Leisure in the UK) |

Hi Jim, it is indeed a pug engine and is great in the SJ chassis, they were made in all the body styles available with the SJ, I have driven the 1.9TD swb soft top a few times whilst on hols and they are fun and very drivable.
