Spare wheel carrier for a 110
Any suggests for the best rear door spare wheel carrier for a 110? Ideally with the option of putting the high lift jack on it, greaseable nipples and allowing you to still open the back door from inside.

I know of Mantec and Scorpion ones...

Mantec...
Darrin,
I had a Mantec one on my 110, it was a really solid bit of kit and could quite easily take the weight of a high-lift I reckon. My only criticism is that as it is fixed to the door (with a sliding device to allow the door to be opened from the inside) which transmitted a bit of noise, but then that noise was drowned out by the zillion other rattles and clunks! IIRC it was not greasable, but that never seemed to cause any problems in 4 years I had it.

I had a Bearmach one, quite a bit cheaper than Mantec, and worked fine.
Only reservation was very thin paint, straight on metal (without primer). Ticks all boxes: opens with door, solid, grease nippels.

I fitted a “Safari-Overland” (WVA Holdings) carrier with high lift holder to my 110 last year after trying a few other makes over the years and I’m very impressed with it. Grease nipples, slidy door thing, doesn’t seem to make any rattles and robust enough for me to remove my ladder and use the carrier to access the roof instead – its also much cheaper than Mantec (I might have read somewhere that WVA make the same carrier for Mantec but I’m not positive) My only criticism is the “easy chip” paint finish but I guess it will last longer than the rest of the 110 will!

I've got a wheel carrier from Bearmach up for grabs if you're interested?

It doesn't hold a hi-lift (i bought one from the last Billing from, dare i mention them... scrapiron..one of the few things i've bought from them...but at least they don't copy the design of these ones, with a hi-lift mount)

here it is (although i've stripped and re-painted it since i removed it from my 90, so it looks pretty tidy now).

Yeah, that looks just like the Scorpion one.

I've had that one installed for a couple of years on the 110 (after the Mantec one lost an argument with a Disco), and I'm happy with it. It's nice to get the Hi-Lift out of the way.

You have to take the jack off to pass the MOT though, as it obscures the lights a bit. Depends how fascist your MOT guy is I suppose...

WVA Holdings supplies Scorpian, so they are the same.

I have had a few bits and pieces from WVA over the years and it has been good quality gear, they also do cash deals at the LR shows, which saves an extra 17%.

Update:

I ended up with a Safari-Equip one and it has lasted well. The highlift blocks the light units at the back, but no police ever companied about it. I kept it well oiled. Paint has all flaked off, but it seems solid enough...

They are good. I have one on my 90, its lasted well. I cut and welded the wheel holder bit higher up (To use the Nato hitch and Sankey) and Re-painted it recently.
