Roof vents
When it's 35+ it's nice to leave your veggies inside your vehicle and have them cooked within a few hours, but I'm quite keen on fitting a few large vents with mossie nets into my 110 to allow some air flow (and I'm looking at adding a fridge which will heat it up more?).
Does anybody have any useful suggestions for where I can get some good vents? I'm fairly sure I can go to a caravan type place and find something, but they always seem to be overpriced for average plastic quality. When I see Germans and the like they seem to have really good quality vents but no leads have proved fruitful yet. Ideally, can open and face any of 4 directions, be quite large, have good mossie nets and not lift too high ;-)

What about the ones like the series 3 safari's had?
you could probbaly pick up an old 109" safari roof for not much money, drill out the rivets and fit them into your 110 roof.

If you want really good roof vents then buy boat ones, not cheap but very good, and they open fully.

Darrin,
Steel mesh in the rear side windows plus sunroof protected by the roof rack works fine for me. Any pictures of the vents you have in mind?

4 way opening roof vents...very cheap!
Go to a scrap yard or a caravan braekers and remove some from a scrapped/ broken/ old caravan thats what I did for my type 2 VW camper I got 2 lovely 4 way vents with removeable mozzie nets for 10 quid the pair!
ok its a hassle but its cheap

Self Build Camper Van Club
No suggestions for vents but you could try looking at the self build motor caravan club site (UK) for some help. Good forum but you can't use the search facility till you've paid a membership fee. You can however register a forum username and get 10 "free" posts without paying to join the club.
Self Build Motor Caravanners Club I've been thinking about building a mini camper van recently and found the site full of useful info. cheers Stewart

I installed 40x40 ones but I am looking to install the 50x50 ones this time as they come with blackout and mosinet roller blinds built in. I have just seen them for £80. not sure what a brownchurch roofrack is but as long as there is enough room then no problems.

Got no photos as I haven't bought them yet. I have seen them and they are better than the 40x40 ones as they have the built in blinds and are a bit bigger. they also tilt four ways. I fitted the 40x40 ones to my previous van, and that is long gone. as with all things plastic care is needed but they are good.

Well , no success in finding any vents that will slide open under a landy roof rack, so I will have to can the idea unless somebody new stumbles along this thread with some bright ideas???
