Oztent RV2 or RV3?

Hi there,

It may seem like I'm splitting hairs- in which case feel free to shout out... But this summer over the course of our trip to Central Asia/Mongolia and back to the UK we will be camping in an oztent...

As we've now got to the point of purchase, I have suddenly stumbled across a good deal for the oztent RV3 incl. peaked Side panels and deluxe section etc.

As there'll be two of us would the RV2 suffice/be 'comfortable' for 84 nights or is it worth payingthe extra £110 for a bigger tent including the side panels etc?

What I'm mainly asking is whether there is a significant and noticeable difference in the size between the RV2 and RV3. The benefit of the RV3+ deluxe section is that we'll be able to attach it caranex-style directly to the back of our 110.

Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I dont have an Oztent, but from what i have heard on various (LR) forums is that the side panels make a big difference to usable space.

Say for instance it is raining, the sidepanels will still enable you to sit/eat/cook out in an open area, over say, just being under a porch which may not keep the rain out even in a light wind.

From a financial point of view, side panels will cost you more than £110 if you bought these at a later date for your RV2.

For a negligable weight and packed (only the diamter) increase I think the RV3 will be the better choice.
