Oram shock absorbers

Hi all,

What's the body of opinion regarding Oram shocks (as supplied by Equip4x4 and Scorpion Racing)? How do they perform? Are they robust enough for long trips? Do the remote reservoires make a big/little difrerence for the overall score?

Any comments will be much appreciated.

Hi,

The Orams are very good shocks. I use the Koni Heavy Tracks for heavy offroad use and they're better than OME or Bilstein. I'm replacing them with Orams in the next few weeks. I doubt you'll have problems with them on your travels.

Good luck,

John C.

Thanks, John. I hope they are good, too, as I've never used them in anger. With the shocks being rebuildable, I hope it is not unreasonable to carry a repair kit rather than complete spare shocks. My only concern with the Orams is that the shock tubes rust pretty quickly.
