New to this game - Landrover 90

Hi folks -

Just a quick topic stater if anyone wants to add their views - just bought a 1985 Landrover 90 - Diesel - normally aspirated 2.5litre.

As far as I know it is a standard version that was well looked after and had constant attention so no oil leaks.

1) What should I look out for or check?
2) Good things/bad things about them?
3) Any modifacations that are a must?

In the short term I will use it as daily transport and on weekends for the occasional 4x4 event. So only must buy I can think of is a snorkel.

Thanks for any suggestions - Tony.

hi tony, i too have just bought a 90, 1986, fitted with daihatsu 2.8 N/A diesel. its my first 90 but been 4x4in for ages. Even before you get a snorkel (not really that needed in my opinion) get a steering protection plate. The steering bars are really vunerable at the front. Best place is at a landy show or meet where £40 will get you a really strong one. While you are there, ask them to do you a deal on a pair of diff guards too as cracked diffs are a bitch. Dont pay more than £75 for the lot. Trust me its money well spent. Have fun.
