National Luna Battery Monitor Dead

It's nearly dead anyway. Only shows 1 green light for each battery, no red or amber only 1 green. Anyone know what went wrong with it? Any recommendations where to get a replacement?

A few months ago I had exactly the same issue - only the bottom green light would be one for each battery, and to make things more fun, the when connected the solenoid refused to disengage. So I ran it disconnected until I got to Johannesburg where NL is based, and paid them a visit. Before I could finish explaining what was wrong with it, the bloke had jumped in the car, installed a new one, shook my hand and sent me on my way. Top marks for customer service but I was none the wiser about why it died. My hunch is that they are quite sensitive to volage surges (e.g. From arc welding without disconnecting the battery), but don't know for sure. They come with a 3yr guarantee.

My guess is to email Steve at NL ( steve <you know what goes here> nationalluna.com) and go from there. There are plenty of dealers in the UK who may be able to send you a replacement once NL ok's it.

Please let us know if you do find out the root cause.

Good luck

Forgot to say: I orginally got mine from Footloose 4x4 in Peterborough. They were also very helpful in getting a replacement fridge control panel under warranty when mine gave up the ghost in the middle of Sudan.

Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting the earth lead ?
Sometimes it just needs resetting ......
I've also had succes by disconnecting the monitor lead, leaving it for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it.

Greetz,
Joey

Thanks for the feedback. I've disconnected, reconnected and everything else. No warranty, but I don't want to buy/fit another one till I find out what the problem is. Split charge still works - at least lights go on and off in right order.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
