Iveco 40-10 clutch cable

Has anyone had problems with the clutch cable? mine has popped out of the fork at the peddle end! I have refitted it but it just came out again even after closing it up. Is it time for a complete cable or shall I just replace the fork? it seems like a bad design, such a lot of pressure on a very small part. I also have been getting a tingling noise which stops if I touch the peddle I presume this could be too much slack in the cable? any ideas?

Bad Bearing

Hi Graham

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a tinkling noise that stops when you touch the pedal could be the release arm bearing. Take it to a clutch specialist to confirm.

I hope it is not the release bearing as I replaced the complete clutch no more than 15,000 km ago. I also replaced the small bearing in the flywheel. I will see what it is like after the new cable

I fitted the new cable and been for a road test and all
seems fine. There are two different cables depending chassis number. I got the
right cable for mine but it looks like someone had fitted the old style cable
which threw me for a while! the older cable has a strange device at the gearbox
end which is basically a joint in the cable. I could not get it apart. I had to
cut the cable off. I wonder if the release arm is the same on all models? if so
and the later cable fits then it would seem a lot easier. I know there have been
various modifications to various parts and this seems like a good one. One thing
is for sure I will not leave home without a spare! I have attached a photo of the joint piece in two pieces I had to take it apart in a vice!
