Fuel Consumption
Can anyone tell me an estimate for fuel consumption for normal, on-the-road use of a 4.0L NA Diesel LandCruiser - the model in production until about 1989 - I can't remember the name. I've seen claims of 30 and even 35 mpg but I can't quite believe this - seeing as a 2.4 NA Diesel HiLux only does about 30 mpg.
Thanks for any info Dan

I think you mean an HJ60 - if you do I had a very old one for a short while and it did around 22mpg - not very impressive. The turbocharged HJ61 was significantly more economical and an auto 80 series better still.
30-35 from a 60 sounds a bit far fetched unless you keep under 50. Ch ------------------ Author of Sahara Overland II and the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook 5, among other things http://www.sahara-overland.com and http://www.adventure-motorcycling.com |
