Extra fual tanks and customs

If a extra fuel tank is in the body of the Vehicle but plumbed into the fuel system is it part of the motor or will customs still bang ya for importation costs :eek3:.

I don't really think customs would give you too much of a problem, but ferry companies may well do, especially the Isle of Man Steam Racket Company.

Is an aftermarket fuel tank inside the passenger compartment a wise thing to do?

I'd not want to be worrying about having fuel slopping around me in the event of an accident.

My only overland experience is in Southern Africa, but I have never been asked about fuel in long range tank... Only in Jerry Cans.
