Angry Landy Mechanic needed in Southern Portugal

Hi - DJ (RoamingYak) is currently in Southern Portugal with a suspect clunky rear prop shaft and noisy gear changes.

Can anyone recommend a Land Rover garage near Nila Nova de Milfontes?

Cheers

Tell him he could simply take the rear propshaft off (2 x 9/16th spanners!) lock the centre diff and drive with just front wheel drive. Easy! Assuming it's just a worn universal joint.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey ho - finally dragged myself off the beach and should try and get this fixed before driving home.

It seems to have settled down a little. When I change gear, unless I do it softly, there is a clunking sound - much like a mates HilUx did when I drove it with a stuffed prop shaft. The gearbox and transfer box are brand new and full of oil.

Tried to see the Land Rover dealers down here but they were booked up for weeks and wouldnt see me when I just turned up.

So can somebody recommend a landy place in the Algarve? They will need to speak a little english. I keep seeing Land Rover Uniguia on wheel covers of other landies but google throws up nothing....

The address for UNIGUIA - COMERCIO DE AUTOMOVEIS LDA is in the first link, but looks like it may just be for sales.
Business Yellow Pages in Portugal for Vehicles & Transport Equipment imports and exports in Europe with Europages
ALL4x4
AFN-Fabrico de Acessórios e Protecções p/ Veículos Automóveis Lda

Hope these help. Happy travels.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
