Defender 300Tdi LHD 2006/7

Guys,

Nene and Foley Overland are selling new vehilcles as above. They suit my purpose however:

Does anyone ou there know:

1.Where they were made

2.What the current situation is in UK and/or Spain regarding registering it within the next 6 months.I am thinking emissions law.

3.What the future is regarding emissions law in UK/Spain for this engine.

And have any opinions on:

1. THEM!

Hi Tony

1. as far as I know they are built in Solihull

2. You should not have any problems with registering it within the EU, as the date of manufacture was several years ago - well before any legislation changes come into effect.

3. the 300Tdi already fails to meet the latest emissions standards in Europe, but it is very unlikely that any retro active law would be introduced, banning these engines - as most of the vehicles in Europe would have to be scrapped.

4 I run a 95 300 Tdi Defender 90 in the UK and it has been excellent, started first time every time for 15 years, easy to work on and reliable. Its been across the Sahara twice, trialled in competitions across the UK and Europe, done 175,000 + miles.

I have also looked at these ROW 110s and would be interested apart from them being too new to import into Canada (needs to be 15 + years old)

Being newer, there are a few differences, Rover rear diff (as opposed to Salisbury), newer style dash, later LT230Q (quieter) transfer box and upgraded R380 box.

The rear door was stronger, brake calipers improved and panhard rod beefed up.

If I was in the UK more, then I would be interested, but I am also waiting for the Defender replacement, to see if it is any good or just a plastic highway poser vehicle.

Cheers

Grif
