fuel consumption

i am looking to buy some kind of truck i have been looking at the iveco 90 16 4x4 or maybe something like it. i was wondering what fuel consumption they get. and are they fixed 4x4. W hat are the equivalent like in the magirus i dont want something with electronics also it has to be cheap. id appreciate any info thanks

Interesting truck, theres a white one on mobile.de for not a lot of money and a box body ready to convert

There is a wbsite with a forum called camper4x4.net its mainly in italian but you can post in english and they will reply so maybe ask there for details , there is an iveco sub forum there

That is the truck i was looking at i have written to him but no answer so i think english is the problem. any way i think the box might be a little too low in height for me to get it converted to a camper and i dont want to have to get into a big job of raising the roof. i want to get something ready quickly as i find the longer it takes to build there is a chance circumstances change and it never gets finished i would like to get travelling this winter. so any one know anything about daf 45 150 4x4 ex mod?

Not popular with the military I believe, you might be better off with a bedford, both are over 7.5 tonnes so depends on your license or downrating

Thanks a lot for the information. Had a look at the bedford, lovely truck. I am not liscensed to drive anything over 7.5 ton. Looking at the situation again. I think I might have to look at the 4x2 trucks, as fuel consumption is too heavy in 4x4. Saw a nice military box on that site. Think I might try put one of those on a 4x2, but it looks like they are fitted a different way to normal, I don't think there are any chasis rails on the box, Any IDEAS??????

The military boxes normally go onto the flatbed of a military truck, the flatbed already mounted correctly to cope with chassis flex

So you'd probaily have to get a truck with a flatbed or build a flatbed for a truck to mount the box on - what box are you looking at ?

The Daf 45 150 is not my favorite truck, MJ/K better bet, though weigh up the pros and cons of using a heavy truck, fuel consumption is a big factor if you are doing long distances when you start to do 2.5 -5 kpl it gets expensive unless you are driving through the Middle East - I used to buy 1000 litres of diesel in Syria for $60 US !

depends where you want to go and what you want to do if you need 4x4 and the extra cost, often 2x4 with a rear locker and good tyres at the correct pressure will get you through most terrain unless you are doing lots of sand or mud.

I like Merc trucks, also look at smaller Steyr and MAN/WV

If you are considering going the smaller cheaper route, also look at Merc 609 vans - lots of space, cheap to run, easily to fix.

If you use a flatbed and military box it will be heavy, it will also make the roof line higher, raise the CofG, reduce performance and increase fuel consumption, better to remove the flatbed and transfer the mounting system to the box itself with reinforcement.

I have been doing a bit of research and have come up with an interest in the older man 8 150 4x2 trucks i see acouple on mobile an 88 and a 93 with diff locks anyone know what they are like
