For Sale Landcruiser HJ60 - UK registered in South Africa

We are selling our fully prepared, ready to go Landcruiser when we get to SA (we are currently in DRC on our way) having driven it from the UK. (around August/September 2006)

Its an HJ60
The engine has a genuine 114,000 mile (MOT certificates from 23 years to prove it) and it's immaculate.
The bodywork was pretty rusty when I got it 2 years ago, but I have had it all cut out and welded in galvanised plate, and resprayed and now there isnt a spot of rust on it.
The clutch was new in spain (Original Toyota parts - no scrimping on aftermarket stuff).

This vehicle had 2 owners since new in 1982, When I got it, it was totally overhauled by Toyota Gibraltar (that do all the landcruisers for NGOS and the UN) as part of a sponsored trip we are doing for them. You can see more of the car and our trip at www.africancruiser.com.

It comes with
a large roof tent for 2 with a 8 inch thick mattress. Fully waterproof even in the most torrential african downpoors.
New bullbars
Massive winch (never used)
ARB underbonnet aircompressor
High lift
Jerrys for fuel and water
Gas camping stove and bottle
Pots and pans
Spares (belts, original filters, waterpump, innertubes...)
Awning
Camping table and 2x chairs
Recovery straps
Tyres are Michelin XZY (surprisingly good in mud, excellent on road and in sand,) with plenty of tread left.
Fire extinguisher
12v fridge
20Amp voltage dropper to run everything you need.
Thuraya Sat phone,
Garmin GPS
Stereo with input for Ipod/mp3 player.
Solidly built shelving area in boot so you can use all 5 seats
Window tint cos its bloody hot on the equator and stops prying eyes.

It's UK registered, It has a carnet which you can have (it runs out in september but I can get an new one issued for one more year - the current one is a bit short on pages)

I've even kept a record of all the service work I've done on it as the trip has gone along.

I know most people like to set off from home with their car but think about driving home from SA The journey is the same backwards as forwards. If there is any other gear you want to get, its all a lot cheaper in SA. This car will easily do it, I should know, we've been living in it for 8 months. Its got everything you need to turn the key and go. We would like to drive it back but don't have the money or the time.

We are looking to sell it in SA around August/September time. And we'll be really sorry to see it go.

Contact us through our web site. www.africancruiser.com (I cant figure out how to make my email address viewable to everyone)

Andy and Esther

If we like the look of it we will be willing to purchase in SA at the end of your trip. We will require the carnet extended which you will have to do in my name - a carnet in your name would cause too many problems for me even to consider.

Also the exchange of owners detals (V50) will have to be considered so you'll have to get advice from the DVLA. When I brought my 4Runner from the UK we actually told the DVLA that we were exporting it - did you do similar or just get a SORN?

All this paperwork will have to be brought into the equation, but we no longer have contacts in the UK so I hope you do, to help facilitate this. Pls contact me in Nairobi so that we can check the vehicle out.

Travel well,

Hi Jeremy

We didnt go through Kenya. We are in SA now. If you are interested in the car you can reach us on SA mobile 082 738 7338 or by emailing us through the web site. I cant find an email address for you.

The Vehicle is SORN in the UK. Getting the carnet changed into your name is no problem. I can do that for you when I fly back. Also I will change the documents into your name at my address and send them out to you.

Andy

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
