24V fuel tank selector solenoid valve
 

Hi all,

As I have three tanks, I'd rather avoid manual valves, and use remotely activated switch-over valves (each having 6 ports - for feed and return lines). Something like this (unfortunately, they do not make a 24V coil version)

I've been searching for a solution and can't find any for 24V trucks. Plenty available for 12V installations, though. Any idea if these are fitted in trucks as OEM parts, or any alternative source of supply?

I used the 12v version for years in my 101, great piece of kit, just got one for the Iveco now

It only needs 12 volts (0.5 amps) momenterily to affect the switchover, its then not using power, so could you use a stepdown from 24-12 just for that (do you have one already for a radio/cdmp3 player)

Try tidyco.co.uk, importers of Parker Marine products, who make a 24v 6 port fuel selector for boats. Probably more reliable than the one in your pic, which has a poor rep in veg oil circles:blushing:!

Looks very expensive, although they can build it for 3 fuel tanks or any number you desire. 12V or 24V.
As you know many/most Euro large trucks are 24V. Try a truck breaker yard and get one from a MAN or Merc or whatever big truck.

Hummm... not my experience of the valve running on bio etc, wonder if people put filters on before the device as per spec

Bio's not quite the same as veg oil, as I'm sure you know, but you could well be right - running on pure veg is a bit hit and miss at the best of times... I've been using Jaguar XJ fuel changeover valves in pairs on my veg oil conversions but they're only 12v. There are also similar valves on L/Cruisers equiped with twin tanks. Are they 24v on 24v cars? Anyway, the thread might be meandering a bit if I'm not careful!

Thanks for the tips. These Parker's valves do look expensive, and I bet they are! In the meantie I've found something that might work, is also expensive but at least affordable as a two tanks selector, less so if you have three tanks, like me:

I have a Toyota selector valve on my LC, but it's 12V (even though the truck has 24V starter) so this is not an option for me.
