Dear Kingkurt,

As we speak I'm traveling from Colombia towards Brazil with three friends. The length of the trip is 15.000 kilometer and a 1985 Land Rover Defender 110 is our best buddy who's taking us. We prepared the vehicle in The Netherlands and had it shipped from Antwerp, Belgium towards Santa Marta, Colombia. At the following webpages, you can see some more information about the trip and the challenges that we are facing:
www.facebook.com/drive2develop and on Drive2develop

When the trip finishes, the plan was to sell the car in Brazil or any of the surrounding countries, which is why I write you. It seems to be a great fit to your purpose and requirements that you mentioned in your post.

A little more info on the car: Built in 1985, equipped with a 1993 Discovery 200TDI engine. The car has been on a trip through the Sahara before (Amsterdam - Burkina Faso and back). It has proven itself and has resulted in a little Saharan sand here and there. In the back of the car there is a construction to make a bed. This construction is also convertible to storage space.

At this moment we are standing still in Buenos Aires with a defect transfer box. Due to money and time constraints, we have two options on how to manage this:

Ship the car back to the Netherlands and repair it there
Ship a transfer box from the Netherlands to BA, repair the car and still sell it here.

Before we go for the (preferred) second option, we need to be sure that in the end of the trip we can hand off the car to someone for a proper price. Below I will describe the car in a bit more details and if you are interested, I would request to have (tomorrow or the day after) a skype chat with you, so that we can see if we can work something out. As you may understand, the decision of what to do with the car needs to be taken quite soon, which is why I request the skype meeting soon.
The car would naturally be sold in working condition.

The car is equipped with a lot of extra's: high jack, roof rack, 6 jerrycans, power convertor (220v), compressor, 4 spare wheels with tire, etc. These items are part of the sale as well. The car is registered in The Netherlands and is available somewhere between the first and the 12th of july (in accordance). The asking price is 5000 euro.

So, if you think: This is the car I want for my trip through South America? Send us a message en we can see if we can make a deal.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
