New Cylinder Head

As an exciting addition to the car we have now fitted a new Cylinder Head as our's suffered the infamous early 1KZ-TE head cracking. This is being fitted today at ~190,000Km.

We are using a genuine Toyota head which should be the later casting which I believe was slightly modified from the 1994-era heads to increase durability.

Amazingly one of the 1994 Prados which we were going to 'borrow' the head from came off the boat from Japan into Zambia with a cracked head (found under pressure testing) so be careful with the 1KZ-TE. How they managed to crack the head in Japan is a mystery to me.

Cheers,
Mike

Change of Availability

Hi guys,
We have just driven the 5,000Km from Lusaka, Zambia to Dar es Salaam via Malawi and Northern Mozambique.

We are considering making the car available in Nairobi if that would increase the appeal of this vehicle.

Please let me know via link on website.

Cheers,
Mike

New Radiator

Hi guys,
We have just come down from Kilimanjaro and whilst in Arusha, Tanzania we managed to find a new genuine radiator (part number 16400-67030).

After spending so much on replacing the cylinder head we decided it was worth it to redo the radiator too as it is a more permanent solution to the problem.

Please note that we have not overheated the engine since the new cylinder head was fitted this is a prevention only.

Car is still available.

Cheers,
Mike

Back to Zambia

Hi,
We haven't had much success trying to sell outside of Zambia so we will do the long drive back from Nairobi to Lusaka.

This car will be available in Zambia in early-mid September if anyone is interested.

Cheers,
Mike
