Just over three days left on the auction. Bidding to start at £8000 and there is no reserve. So far lots of lookers, but no bids...

becausewecan 13 Apr 2011 23:55

Okay, so no bidders, car unsold. Is no-one interested? Unsure whether the market is quiet and we have to be patient or the price is an issue... any thoughts?

This is only my opinion, everyone is different but ......

If I look on Autotrader in the UK I can find a used Patrol of the same year for less than £4000, in one case less than £3000 -
1998 NISSAN Patrol 2.8TD

And none of these have been through Africa. They've probably just done the school run.
It seems apart from the camping kit etc, the only mechanical difference is you've put heavy duty shocks on and a different battery (minimalist approach which is what I like. Far too many change stuff because they think they should) and different tyres.

Yours is a one stop shop for everything you'd need for an overland. Yet I'd still set it up myself, and maybe not for less than buying yours, but I'd have a good go at it especially as I'd have at least 4-5000 pounds to do so.
That's just what I think for me personally.

Just to add my personal opinion to this as well - which is that onlyMark is pretty spot on with his analysis. I was one of the watchers of your auction, just to see if it would go for the price or not.

Just as a comparison: Two years ago I bought a '07 reg Nissan Patrol 3.0d in the UK for GBP12,000. It had done 20k miles, and had a full service history.

Whilst yours is really nicely kitted out with all the different bits and bobs, it's still very much on the pricey side for what it really is. If it was a landcruiser 80 series, it would be able to sell for this amount, because of the value those vehicles manage to hold when well maintained, but I think that to be successful with the sale you'd be better off lowering the price some what.

Anyway, just my 2cents.

Lowered the price!

Thanks for the feedback onlyMark and joova, it is what we suspected but it is always difficult when you know what you have spent on kit. Have taken the advice on board and lowered the starting bid to 5500 pounds, again no reserve. Hopefully this might help with a sale, fingers crossed.

Hi,
Did you end up selling the Patrol?
Cheers
Joova

becausewecan 21 May 2011 10:31

Nope, still on the market. If anyone is interested it is best to contact via Hubb, not phone, as travelling a lot at the minute. And we are open to reasonable offers.

Cheers.

OK, I know someone who might be interested, sent you a private message.
Cheers
Joova
